In the early fall of 2016, I was in a travel rut. About four months had passed since my trip to Bulgaria & Romania, and I still had to future trips to look forward to.
Then, something great happened. Norwegian Air announced one-way flights from the US to Europe for only $69! Add that to a strong US dollar, and suddenly prices across the board began to drop. For $450, I was able to fly from DC to Scandinavia. Time to cross the Northern Lights off the bucket list! And, since I was already going to be across the pond, why not tack on a couple extra days in a new city: Copenhagen.
