As a member of the Tribe, I’ve always wondered what it’s like to wake up on Christmas morning and have presents waiting for me. Well, on Christmas Day 2014, that wish came true. Enter, the Infamous Etihad Christmas Sale. I woke up to an alert from TheFlightDeal.com of probably the most tempting fare sale I’ll ever see. Just about every destination Etihad flies too was featured.
So, I spent the morning playing with dates and routings. Initially, my plan was to visit South Africa. But, a 14 hour flight to Abu Dhabi, then a 10 hour flight to Johannesburg didn’t sound that appealing, even at sub-$300. Instead of just connecting in Abu Dhabi, why not just stay there?
After sending out the deal to some friends, four of us were headed to the Middle East in April 2015. Total cost – $214 round trip, non-stop.
After doing a bit of research, we settled on a couple days in Abu Dhabi, 4 days in Dubai and a day trip to Oman.
Luckily, as part of their goal of competing with Dubai as a major transportation hub, Etihad offers complimentary shuttle service for all passengers between Abu Dhabi and Dubai (only 1 hour drive).
